Fair Haven Union High School
Friday before Christmas break
Thirty minutes to go
Light bounces off the snow
Streaming in through the library windows
Dust floats lazily around a girl
Bent over a magazine
Pen between her teeth
And twirling her hair
All sit patiently
Waiting for the bell
Doodling
Daydreaming
Fidgeting
Waiting for the bell
Buses idle in the parking lot
Exhaust curling away
I sit quietly
Content
Confident in the luxurious promise
Of the unstoppable clock
And the idling buses
Christmas break
Thirty minutes away

Josh, I love it. I'd love it if I'd never sat in that library. You are just a fantastic writer.
