PANIC... AS DEFINED FOR ME AT THE VT POLICE ACADEMY

Panic is a sudden and/or overwhelming terror that destroys a person's capacity for self-help.

The Academy forced us to memorize the definitions to lots of words and terms like that, which we were expected to recite verbatim at any given time. The punishment for not knowing the right definition was prolonged physical exercise, or as they called it- remedial training.

That is why I will always know that "attention to detail" means "the close and careful processing of information obtained verbally or visually."
