POEMS FOR BOWDEN

My baby’s first cry was the sweetest sound
That I had ever heard
But for years I’ve suffered through the ones
That followed afterward.

* * *

The burly buck was once a fawn.
The frog- a tadpole in a pond.
What was a seed is now a tree.
When you grow up what will you be?

* * *

The moon is in the sky
The bird is in its nest.
It’s time to close your eyes,
Say goodnight, and get some rest.

* * *

A house is built with mortar and brick.
A beaver dam with mud and stick.
Lots of things make up a stew.
But what went into making you?

My socks were knit with needle and yarn,
And nails and boards become a barn.
Hot water and herbs will brew a tea,
But how is it you came to be?

Outstanding! My blog has been visited by the great Kate Robinson! Of course, I can't speak objectively as to Bowden's cuteness as I am a little biased. He could look like a potato, forgotten in the back of the pantry for a season, and I would still want to pick him up and squeeze him. He's very fun! His little sister, Lucy (8 months), looks like his little clone. I am one of those annoying people who will prattle on about their kids as if you are equally interested in them. I'll stop. Thanks for visiting my blog. I have enjoyed visiting yours.
