BONUS QUESTION

TOO MUCH OF A GOOD THING...
If all you ate was candy and all you drank was soda (no diet or sugar free candy or soda allowed)- How long do you think it would take before this diet killed you?

I'm gonna try it and report back. Gosh, that's a good question!

It is my opinion that, with very few exceptions, anyone who attempted this diet would be dead within a year.

agreed. I may even say... If the guy on the McDonald's diet had a failing liver under a month's time... I'd think it would be sooner than a year.

Interesting question...I'd imagine there's some scientific data somewhere that would help come up with a definitive answer.

I think a lot would depend on the varying degree of physical activity and metabolic activity per each participant in this Wonka experiment, but ultimately the average Joe could not go more than a year I'd think.

That'd be asking a lot of a human's organs...

Babs- should I consider that a suicide note. I'm concerned.

Maybe 6 months. Just sugar, gelatine, cafeine, dyes... with time all that, just that makes you die.
Your body needs special nutriments, vitamins...proteins and lipids not only glucids. Everyone knows that. You too.
Each part of your body suffers of this kind of diet: heart, liver, muscles, teeth...
I am not a nutritionist, i am just realistic.
It's surely the overdose which kills but also this exclusive choice of sugar...the imbalance.
I don't like candies! I prefer cookies!

It would be less than six months. You would be severely deficient in protein, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals. You would starve to death while gaining fifty pounds.

Everyone knows that. You too.

now now, hold up. I think you're thinking purely skittles here Steve (which are primarily carbohydrates by the way...the one sure nutrional substance you wouldn't lack on this diet. Everyone knows that. you too). If you were hammering away on snickers or whatnot you're still getting some protein and a somewhat balanced approach to eating...balanced enough to sustain life for quite a while.

We reject the logic of skittles...

Fats and simple sugars would be the only things you'd be full of. I guess you could eat a lot of nut-based candy to get yourself your protein and a bit of fiber, but you'd be blown up like a British balloon -- bad (soon no) teeth and a 50-foot circumference.

The lesson here is that this is only a good idea if you are looking to quickly discover what it's like to be a diabetic with dentures.
