MATTHEW 2:1-3

"Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of herod the king, behold wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, "Where is he who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship him. When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him."

Question: I understand why Herod was troubled by the news that the King of the Jews had been born, after all he was the current King of the Jews, and by all accounts he was a murderous, paranoid dictator who was famous for killing his own wife and sons for real or imagined plots against his throne.

But why do you think all of Jerusalem was troubled with him? Any ideas? That line doesn't make any sense to me, but there it is. Hmmm...

When Mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy. My guess is that when a paranoid dictator gets upset about something, his dog isn't the only one that feels the strain.

I can't believe Steve stole my line for I pulled this up to say precisely that "When Mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy." Perhaps all of Jerusalem was just eager to get on the bandwagon with their erstwhile leader!
