THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE HASN'T HELD THE PLACE OF AN AUGUST ACCOLADE IN MY MIND FOR A WHILE, AND TODAY IT WAS CHEAPENED EVEN FURTHER.

I was more exasperated than surprised to learn that the prize had been given to President Obama. At this point he is really more of an empty suit than a man of great accomplishment. Even his goals, which remain largely unaccomplished, are not laudable. He is being celebrated for merely acquiring an office and not for what he has done with it, and for soaring oratory rather than real accomplishment. Frankly, I think it's ridiculous. I suspect that the coming years will show that the decision to award President Obama with the prize was hasty and ill-advised, but I do applaud the sudden change of direction in the President's Sasquatch policy. I wonder what made him change his mind.
