I don't think she does like the nickname, but it was what Shacka Zulu called his Mother in that Shaka Zulu mini-series that aired back in the 80's. Me and my Brothers loved that show, and we took to calling her "The Great Mother Elephant" as a result. Of course, I guess it could be taken as a disparaging remark, but I think the idea of a mother elephant conjers up feelings of strength, majesty, and protection. She is my "Great Mother Elephant."
