I think you can learn infinitely more about a person by watching them play golf than you can by watching them commute - but seriously - you have to be crazy to get involved with someone who would so readily spoil what would otherwise be a good walk, as Mark Twain would say.
phil would be guerilla-gardening a secret plot in the corner of the golf course, exploiting rich country-clubbers by feeding the poor from the well-tended rich soil.
i'd see him and say, "what on earth are you doing?!?"

although, i have been to golf courses. i have never been on a ferry.

Ferry, I can't say I'm really into the golf scene. Now, a frisbee golf course might be a different story.
