They say the fields are wet with dew,
But I know otherwise.
Fish were dancing in those fields
'Til just before sunrise.
I've seen 'em do it lots of times
When they think no one's awake-
All silver in the moonlight
In the fields down by the lake.
Schools of yellow perch and sunfish
Mix with walleye, trout and bass,
And with every dip and twirl
Water spatters on the grass.
They always stop their revelry
Just before the crack of dawn,
Wiggle their way back to the lake,
And just like that, they're gone.
