DID YOU KNOW...
...that the Redskins are the only NFL team that Tom Brady does not own a victory against as a starting quarterback?
IN A PREVIEW OF THE UPCOMNG SUPERBOWL THE WASHINGTON REDSKINS HEAD TO NEW ENGLAND TO TAKE ON THE PATRIOTS
I am predicting a fnal score of Washington 24 and New England 21.
It'll be a close one. I expect Washington to run up an early and unexpected lead. New England will wake from their confidence-induced stupor and start to come back, but they will face a surprisingly stiff secondary and it will be too little too late. New England's biggest weakness is their arrogance and the public's expectations. This is probably the only game the Skins will play this season where there is no pressure to win. They won't disappoint anybody if they lose to the juggernaut that is New England so they can be creative and loose. That equals danger for a Patriots team who is probably looking past the perrenial losers from Washington to their showdown with the Colts. Guess what... the patriots will not enter that game undefeated like everyone expects them to.
Hail to the Redskins! Hail victory!

JOB AND I REROOFED THE SPRING HOUSE
While I was there it was discovered that the roof of the spring house had fallen into a shocking state of disrepair. All of the shingles had been stripped off of it, and the underlying sheets of plywood, rafters and even some of the studs on the southern wall had begun to rot. One of the rafters had fallen in completely, and a second was just barely hanging on. Two of the studs on the southern wall were pretty spongey and rotten so we ripped them out too. For under $150.00 we replaced the rotten studs, rafters & plywood and reroofed it complete with drip-edge and 30 pound felt underneath. It was fun working with Job.
DINNER AT THE PECKS
This past summer Jamin and Nathanael Peck flew out from Vt to work on our summer staff here at Camp Maranatha. The Pecks attend Joel's church in North Chittenden. They are fast becoming one of my favorite families. They graciously invited all of us over to their house for dinner. The food was delicious and the company was fantastic. Thanks Pecks! We love you guys!
...ON WHICH SIDE OF THE LAKE IS BEST
Those who live in Vermont as me and mine do
Hold the eastern shore is the better of the two
But even we concede- New Yorker’s have the better view.

THE CARILLON CRUISE
Thanks Mom for the cruise aboard the Carillon. It was one of the highlights of the vacation. It was a guided tour of the southernmost portion of the lake between Hand's cove and Whitehall, NY.
We saw our house both going and coming. On the way back the Captain brought the boat in closer to the VT shore and tooted the horn at Mom, Dad, Bowden and Lucy who were standing on the porch waving at us.
The boat docked at Whitehall (birthplace of the U.S. Navy) and we ate lunch at Skene Manor, which was the turn-of-the-century mansion of Judge Potter that sits on a bluff above the town. Following lunch we were given a guided tour of the mansion. Our contingent snuck off from the tour and climbed the bell tower. You could see the whole town from up there.
The view from the bell tower.
Me and my cute wife.
The interior of the boat.
Fort Ticonderoga... about 7 miles north of our house if traveling by lake.
Our Captain and his wife. They were a very interesting couple who just bought the boat and the old tavern at larrabee's Point from another couple, and who run the carillon as a side venture. They are primarily farmers. They own a beef farm six miles north of Larabees Point.
Thanks Mom!!!
